Peer Pressure

I'm in the middle of a fight should I run?
Should I run and make things harder for me, my life, and my reputation?
Should I hit the person right in front of me (excuse my French) but f*ck up my chances of being a superstar with scratches on my face.
Then again if I don't hit them I would have to worry about everyone taunting and teasing me all because I didn't fight.
Should I take the first blow?
Should I take the first step and back away?
Put yourself in my shoes, would you rather be a scarred for life person who ran away from their dreams all because of a fight or should have to watch your back every move you make?
Which step would you take?
Would you take the route that's giving you doubts or would you pray and put it in Gods way?
State the way to be free so that I could see,

A Veteran Falls

Simple orders a drink of whisky instead of his usual because of the situation with the soldier outside. He felt as if both women was tearing that man apart because they were nagging about who he was with. Simple felt glad that it was not him in that situation. He orders the whisky so that it can help him concentrate.

High Bed

Simple say that if he could travel the world some of the places he would go are Rio, Brazil, Africa, Hong Kong, Athens, and Georgia. He would travel these places so that he could drink and see all the women he want without Joyce in his path.

Banquet In Honor

Simple laughs out loud because the honored artist is speaking about his life and how he struggled to be where is now. He said that no one was trying to help him when he wasn't famous but now that he has alot of fame everyone wants to preach on his good name.

Jealousy

What makes Simple so jealous of Joyce is that he takes her to this bar called "Whistle and Rest". Joyce them notices the piano player is very attractive. Simple then catches the piano players' eyes and Joyce to get up so that they can leave. Joyce refuses to leave. That's why Simple gets jealous at Joyce.

Vacation

Simple says that "Womens is simple". What he means is that he feels as if women are predictable. Simple thinks he knows best what's to say to a woman. He tells women things that makes them think that their on cloud nine. Simple feels as if he's in charge of what women thinks so he has a mind that tells him that he's a perfect gentlemen.

Hate Is....

Hate is wrong.
Hate is strong.
Hate is sacrificing.
Hate is unreconizing.
Hate is not respect and can not be put at rest.
Hate is a crime.
Hate is taking up everyone's' time.
Hate is stealing and hate has no healing.
Hate is violence.
Hate doesn't leads anything but silence.
Hate needs to cease so we all can have peace.

Life is a blessing.

Madam

In the poem Madam Alberta K. Johnson is an outspoken, hardworking, and respected woman. She is a person with a mind that many may consider brave. Ms. Johnson is a leader because she speaks for what's right and cares who think less of her. Ms. Robinson has been a slave in doing every white person's job that she has worked for.

Wooing the Muse

Simple said that if he didn't have to ride Jim Crow he would go to his hometown for his vacation. Simple was saying that he doesn't want to be around people who has that mentality of manipulating blacks. Simple does not want to be around such ignorance.

Droopy Drawers

I think that I would not support the decision of Delegate Algie J. Howell Jr. Wearing pants down your waist to show your underwear is considered a style. I don't wear my clothes like that but I feel that it is unfair to try to change a person's way of dressing. I would not favor this such decision just because it mainly targets black people. It is a shame to see that a black man like Howell himself would start a feud against his own people.

Simple believes if Eve was a black woman the world would be in chaos. The world would not be as organized as it is now today. Simple believes that Adam and Eve was white because he saw a Sunday School card that shows the two being white. He then went on believing that Adam and Eve were two white people made by God.

I think Simple says that " a woman is half made up and half is clothes" because he feels that women are fake. They look the beautiful because of their makeup. Simple was so upset that Zarita came to the park because her hair was in a mess and she never came to see him in the daytime.

Marcus Garvey

Garvey dreams of black people to be equal to every race. The " impact of Marcus Garvey " was something that people looked at, thought about and took advantage of so that that different races could come together and bond. Marcus Gavery and Malcolm X philosophies were similar in many ways. They both wanted everyone to come together to form one nation. Like Malcolm X, Gavery went to another country to form allies for black people. I believe that Marcus Gavery was a leader and hero just from reading a article about him. I have never heard of him until today.
